Dharma-pratyabhijñāna and Vara-pradāna (धर्मप्रत्यभिज्ञानम्—वरप्रदानम्)
निरीक्षमाणा भर्तारं सर्वावस्थमनिन्दिता | मृतमेव हि भर्तारें काले मुनिवच: स्मरन्,सती-साध्वी सावित्री अपने पतिकी सभी अवस्थाओंका निरीक्षण करती थी। नारदजीके वचनोंको स्मरण करके उसे निश्चय हो गया था कि समयपर मेरे पतिकी मृत्यु अवश्यम्भावी है
nirīkṣamāṇā bhartāraṃ sarvāvastham aninditā | mṛtam eva hi bhartāraṃ kāle munivacaḥ smaran |
كانت سافيتري الطاهرة التي لا عيب فيها تراقب زوجها في كل حال. وإذ تذكّرت قول الحكيم، أيقنت أنّه متى حلّ الأجل المقدَّر فإنّ زوجها لا محالة لاقٍ الموت؛ لذلك ظلت تلاحظُه بعزمٍ عفيفٍ ثابت لا يتزعزع.
