Yakṣa-saṃvāda: Yudhiṣṭhira’s Interrogation at the Guarded Water
तथैव प्रियवादेन नैपुणेन शमेन च । रहश्वैवोपचारेण भर्तारें पर्यतोषयत्,इसी प्रकार मधुर सम्भाषण, कार्य-कुशलता, शान्ति तथा एकान्तसेवाद्वारा पतिदेवको भी सदा प्रसन्न रखा
tathaiva priyavādena naipuṇena śamena ca | rahaś caivopacāreṇa bhartāraṁ paryatoṣayat ||
وكذلك، بكلامٍ عذبٍ رفيق، وبحُسن القيام بالواجبات، وبسكونٍ مع ضبط النفس، وبخدمةٍ خاصةٍ يقِظةٍ لا تُبتغى بها المباهاة—كانت تُبقي زوجَها راضيًا على الدوام.
इुमत्सेन उवाच
The verse teaches that harmony in relationships is sustained through ethical speech (priyavāda), competent and responsible action (naipuṇa), inner calm and restraint (śama), and sincere, unobtrusive care (rahas-upacāra).
Dyumatsena describes how a wife maintained her husband’s contentment by consistently combining gentle words, practical skill in duties, calm demeanor, and private attentive service.
