Yakṣa-saṃvāda: Yudhiṣṭhira’s Interrogation at the Guarded Water
दत्त्वा सो5श्चवपति: कनन््यां यथाहं सपरिच्छदम् । ययौ स्वमेव भवन युक्त: परमया मुदा,राजा अश्वपति दहेजसहित कन्यादान देकर बड़ी प्रसन्नताके साथ अपनी राजधानीको लौट गये
dattvā so ’śvapatiḥ kanyāṃ yathāhaṃ saparicchadam | yayau svam eva bhavanaṃ yuktaḥ paramayā mudā ||
وبعد أن وهب الملك أشواباتي الفتاة في الزواج وفق شعيرة «كنيادان» (إهداء العروس)، ومعها ما يليق من الهدايا والمؤن كما تقتضي الأصول، عاد إلى مقرّه الملكي وهو مفعمٌ بأسمى الفرح.
इुमत्सेन उवाच
The verse highlights dharmic propriety in kanyādāna: the bride is given with due honor and necessary provisions, and the giver experiences rightful satisfaction from completing a social and moral duty.
King Aśvapati performs the formal giving of the maiden in marriage along with appropriate gifts, then—rejoicing—returns to his own palace, indicating the successful conclusion of the marriage arrangement.
