Sāvitrī’s Report and Nārada’s Prognosis (सावित्र्याख्यान—सत्यवान्-गुणवर्णनं तथा अल्पायुषः पूर्वसूचना)

तामुवाच स धर्मात्मा नृशंसं बत ते कृतम्‌ । पतिं हत्वा कुलं चेदमुत्साद्य धनलुब्धया,भरत बड़े धर्मात्मा थे। वे माताकी बात सुनकर उससे बोले--“कुलकलंकिनी जननी! तूने धनके लोभमें पड़कर यह कितनी बड़ी क्रूरताका काम किया है? पतिकी हत्या की और इस कुलका विनाश कर डाला। "मेरे मस्तकपर कलंकका टीका लगाकर तू अपना मनोरथ पूर्ण कर ले।' ऐसा कहकर भरत फूट-फ़ूटकर रोने लगे

tām uvāca sa dharmātmā nṛśaṃsaṃ bata te kṛtam | patiṃ hatvā kulaṃ cedaṃ utsādya dhanalubdhayā ||

فقال لها ذلك البارّ بالدَّرْمَا: «وا أسفاه! ما أفظع ما صنعتِ! بدافع الطمع في المال قتلتِ زوجكِ وأهلكتِ هذا البيت كلَّه.»
