द्रौपदी-शैब्यसंवादः — Draupadī’s Identification and Counsel on Hospitality

इह प्रायमुपासिष्ये यूयं व्रजत वै गृहान्‌ । नरश्रेष्ठ वीरो! अब मैंने जो निश्चय किया है, उसे सुनो। मैं यहाँ आमरण अनशन करूँगा। तुम सब लोग घर लौट जाओ

iha prāyam upāsiṣye yūyaṁ vrajata vai gṛhān |

أعلن دُريودَهَنَةُ عزماً قاسياً: سيُقيم في موضعه صومَ «برايوپَڤيشا»—صوماً حتى الموت—وأمر الآخرين أن يعودوا إلى بيوتهم. وفي سياق الحكاية، ليست هذه إلا وقفةً أخلاقيةً قسريةً، يتخذ فيها إيذاءَ النفس وسيلةَ ضغطٍ لإلزام الطاعة وتضخيم العزم، مع التفافٍ على المشورة الهادئة ومسؤولية المُلك الرشيد.
