Bhīṣma’s Admonition; Duryodhana’s Rājasūya Aspiration and the Proposal of a Vaiṣṇava-satra
प्रविशन्तं वनद्वारि गन्धर्वा: समवारयन् | सेनाग्रयं धार्तराष्ट्रस्य प्राप्तं द्वैतवनं सर:,दुर्योधनका सेनानायक द्वैतवन सरोवरके अत्यन्त निकटतक पहुँच गया था, उस वनके द्वारपर पैर रखते ही उसको गन्धर्वोने रोक दिया
vaiśampāyana uvāca |
praviśantaṃ vanadvāri gandharvāḥ samavārayan |
senāgrayaṃ dhārtarāṣṭrasya prāptaṃ dvaitavanaṃ saraḥ ||
قال فايشَمبايانا: ولما بلغ طليعة جيش دْهْرِتَراشْتْرَة بحيرةَ غابة دْفَيتَفَنَة واقتربت من باب الغابة لتدخل، اعترضها الغَنْدهَرفَة وسدّوا عليها الطريق.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights that might does not equal right: entering a place without proper right or humility invites resistance. Dharma includes respecting boundaries and recognizing that arrogance can be checked by forces beyond human power.
As the Kaurava army’s vanguard reaches the Dvaitavana lake and tries to enter through the forest entrance, Gandharvas stationed there stop them, setting up the ensuing confrontation.
