Duryodhana’s Shame and Consideration of Prāyopaveśa
śrūyate hi mahārāja saro dvaitavanaṃ prati | vasantaḥ pāṇḍavāḥ sārdhaṃ brāhmaṇair vanavāsibhiḥ ||
The verse underscores the dharmic ideal of sustaining righteous life even in hardship: the Pāṇḍavas, though exiled, live in disciplined forest-residence and in association with Brahmins, reflecting respect for spiritual counsel and ethical conduct amid adversity.
Vaiśampāyana informs the king that news has reached them: the Pāṇḍavas are currently staying near a lake by the Dvaitavana forest, living together with Brahmins who reside in the forest—setting the scene for events connected with their forest exile.
