The verse highlights discernment and realism in ethical aspirations: ideals must be weighed against what is possible in the world. Indra’s sorrowful reflection underscores the tension between lofty expectations and the limits of available human (or worldly) counterparts.
Markandeya narrates that Indra hears the divine lady’s statement about the kind of husband she seeks. Indra becomes troubled and thinks intensely, concluding that no suitable husband seems to exist matching the exact description she has given.
