Agni’s Withdrawal to the Forest and Identification with Āṅgirasa (अग्न्याङ्गिरस-इतिहासः)
सर्वधर्मेषु च रतस्तं देवा ब्राह्मणं विदुः । जिस धर्मज्ञ एवं मनस्वी पुरुषका सम्पूर्ण जगत्के प्रति आत्मभाव है तथा सभी धर्मोंपर जिसका समान अनुराग है, उसे देवतालोग ब्राह्मण मानते हैं
sarvadharmeṣu ca rataṃ taṃ devā brāhmaṇaṃ viduḥ |
تَعُدُّ الآلهةُ براهمنًا حقًّا ذلك الذي يَسْتَلِذُّ بجميع وجوه الدارما؛ واسعَ الفهم، عادلَ النظرة، يَضُمُّ العالمَ كلَّه بروحِ الذات.
ब्राह्मण उवाच
Brahminhood is presented as an ethical-spiritual qualification: one is a brāhmaṇa by being devoted to dharma in a comprehensive, non-sectarian way—honoring righteousness wherever it appears—rather than by external markers alone.
A brāhmaṇa speaker offers a normative definition of a ‘true brāhmaṇa,’ asserting that the gods themselves recognize as brāhmaṇa the person who is devoted to all dharmas and maintains an even, universal regard toward the world.
