(Primacy of Filial Service) — Mārkaṇḍeya’s Account of the Vyādha’s Instruction
mukhajenāgninā kruddho lokān uddhartayann iva | kṣaṇena rājaśārdūla pureva kapilaḥ prabhuḥ ||
The verse highlights the terrifying potency of uncontrolled wrath, especially when joined to extraordinary power: anger can become world-consuming, threatening cosmic order and ethical balance.
Mārkaṇḍeya describes a powerful figure who, in sudden rage, appears to emit fire from his mouth and overwhelm the worlds, being compared to the ancient sage Kapila, famed in tradition for a destructive blaze born of ascetic might.
