Dharma-vyādha on Parental Worship
Pitṛ-mātṛ-śuśrūṣā as Paramadaivata
putratvam adhigacchāva tava cāpi sulocana | vara eṣa vṛto deva tad viddhi surasattama ||
The verse highlights the ethical and narrative weight of a boon: rather than seeking power or wealth, the chosen blessing is relational and dharmic—being accepted as sons—emphasizing the sanctity of lineage, responsibility, and divinely sanctioned bonds.
Mārkaṇḍeya reports to a divine being that the requested boon has been selected: the speakers have obtained sonship in relation to the addressed figure, and he asks the god—praised as the best among the celestials—to recognize this chosen boon.
