Dharma-vyādha’s Analysis of Moral Decline and the Mahābhūta–Guṇa Schema (धर्मव्याधोपदेशः)

Educational Q&A

That charity (especially to Brahmins) performed at potent sacred times—festivals, seasonal junctions, solstitial/equinoctial days, and eclipses—produces ‘akṣaya’ (inexhaustible) merit; even simple gifts like curds and whey become spiritually enduring when given in a dharmic manner.

Mārkaṇḍeya is instructing his listeners on the religious efficacy of dāna (giving), highlighting specific times when gifts are believed to multiply in merit and become imperishable, thereby guiding ethical and ritual conduct within the broader Vana Parva discourse.
