Arjuna’s Arrival and Reunion on the Sacred Mountain
सो<न्तरिक्षमवप्लुत्य विधूय सहसा गदाम्,महाबाहु भीमने युद्धके मुहानेपर गर्जना करते हुए सहसा आकाशमें उछलकर गदा घुमायी और उसे वायुके समान वेगसे मणिमानपर दे मारा, मानो देवराज इन्द्रने किसी दैत्यपर वज्रका प्रहार किया हो
so 'ntarikṣam avaplutya vidhūya sahasā gadām | mahābāhur bhīmaseno yuddhake mukhāne 'par garjanāṃ kurvan sahasā ākāśam utplutya gadāṃ ghumāyitvā tāṃ vāyusama-vegataḥ maṇimān prati prāhiṇot, yathā devarāja indro daitye vajraṃ nipātayet ||
قال فايشامبايانا: ثم إنّ بهيماسينا، عظيمَ الساعد، زأر عند مقدّمة المعركة وقفز فجأةً إلى السماء. وأدار هراوته ثم قذفها إلى مَṇimān بسرعة الريح—كأنّ إندرا، ملكَ الآلهة، يضرب عدوًّا من الأَسُورا بصاعقته (الفَجْرَة). ويُبرز المشهد عزيمة بهيما الضارية في القتال الحقّ، وصورة الملحمة المتكرّرة: عدالةٌ إلهية تنعكس في حرب البشر.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights kṣatriya-dharma in its martial form: decisive courage and disciplined force used in battle against an adversary, framed through a moral-cosmic analogy—Bhīma’s act is likened to Indra’s thunderbolt against a daitya, suggesting the ideal of power aligned with the protection of order.
Bhīma, positioned at the forefront of the fight, roars and leaps into the air, whirls his mace, and hurls it at Maṇimān with wind-like speed. The narrator intensifies the moment by comparing the strike to Indra’s vajra-blow against a demon.
