Educational Q&A

The verse highlights an ethical ideal: goodwill expressed through action. Hanuman grounds his promise in two bonds—brotherhood (bhrātṛtva) and friendship (sauhṛda)—implying that dharma includes supporting one’s kin and well-wishers through concrete, beneficial deeds.

After being addressed by Bhima, Hanuman responds directly. He acknowledges their relationship as brothers (both connected to Vāyu) and as friends, and therefore promises to do something pleasing/helpful for Bhima—setting up Hanuman’s assistance in the forest episode.
