Dhanañjaya-viraha-śoka and the Resolve to Enter Gandhamādana (धनंजय-विरह-शोकः गन्धमादन-प्रवेश-संकल्पश्च)
पज्चवर्षाण्यहं वीरं सत्यसंधं धनंजयम् । यन्न पश्यामि बीभत्सुं तेन तप्ये वृकोदर,भीमसेन! आज पाँच वर्ष हो गये, मैं अपने वीर भाई सत्यप्रतिज्ञ अर्जुनके दर्शनसे वंचित हो गया हूँ। इसके कारण मुझे बड़ी चिन्ता हो रही है
pañca-varṣāṇy ahaṃ vīraṃ satya-saṃdhaṃ dhanañjayam | yan na paśyāmi bībhatsuṃ tena tapye vṛkodara ||
منذ خمس سنين، يا عظيم البأس، لم أرَ البطل دهننجايا—أرجونا الثابت على عهد الصدق. ولأنني حُرِمتُ من رؤية بيبهاتسو، يا فريكودارا (بهيمَ)، فإنني مُستعرٌ بالأسى.
युधिछिर उवाच
The verse highlights the ethical weight of satya (truth) and steadfast vows (saṃdha): Arjuna is praised as satya-saṃdha, and Yudhiṣṭhira’s distress shows how dharmic leadership is bound to loyalty, concern for kin, and the moral support derived from virtuous companions.
Yudhiṣṭhira addresses Bhīma (Vṛkodara), lamenting that for five years he has been unable to see Arjuna (Dhanañjaya/Bībhatsu). The prolonged separation causes him intense mental suffering and worry.
