Somaka–Jantu Exemplar: The Quest for a Hundred Sons
taṁ jātaṁ mātaraḥ sarvāḥ parivārya samāsata | satataṁ pṛṣṭhataḥ kṛtvā kāmabhogān viśāmpate ||

The verse highlights a dharmic reorientation: caregivers set aside personal pleasures (kāmabhoga) to protect and nurture the vulnerable. Ethical priority is given to responsibility, restraint, and steadfast care.
After the child’s birth, all the mothers gather closely, encircle him, and remain seated near him at all times, deliberately turning away from sensual enjoyments to focus on the infant’s safety and well-being.
