Somaka–Jantu Exemplar: The Quest for a Hundred Sons
soma-ka uvāca—tava putro jantuḥ punaḥ svamātuḥ kukṣau punar utpatsyate; tadā tasya vāma-pārśve (vāma-pasau) suvarṇa-cihnaṃ bhaviṣyati.
The verse emphasizes continuity of moral causality across lives: rebirth can occur within the same familial context, and a distinctive sign may serve to confirm identity, reinforcing accountability and the ordered nature of karma.
Somaka foretells that the son named Jantu will be born again from his own mother, and that a golden mark on his left side/rib will identify him at birth.
