Jāmadagnya Rāma’s Lament, Vow, Kṣatriya Suppression, and Gifts
वैशम्पायन उवाच ततश्षतुर्दशी राम: समयेन महामना: । दर्शयामास तान् विप्रान् धर्मराजं च सानुजम्,वैशम्पायनजी कहते हैं--जनमेजय! तदनन्तर चतुर्दशी तिथिको निश्चित समयपर महामना परशुरामजीने उस पर्वतपर रहनेवाले उन ब्राह्मणों तथा भाइयोंसहित युधिष्ठिरको दर्शन दिया
vaiśampāyana uvāca | tataś caturdaśī rāmaḥ samayena mahāmanāḥ | darśayāmāsa tān viprān dharmarājaṃ ca sānujaṃ ||
قال فايشَمبايانا: «ثم، في اليوم القمري الرابع عشر، وفي الوقت المعيَّن، ظهر راما (باراشوراما) العظيمُ النفس أمام أولئك البراهمة المقيمين على ذلك الجبل، وظهر أيضًا أمام دارماراجا يودهيشثيرا مع إخوته الأصغر.»
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse emphasizes samaya (right timing and keeping to appointed order) as part of dharma: significant meetings and guidance occur when time, intention, and duty align, especially between spiritual authority (brāhmaṇas/ṛṣi) and righteous kingship (Dharmarāja).
On the caturdaśī tithi, Paraśurāma arrives at the appointed time and grants darśana—appearing before the resident brāhmaṇas and before Yudhiṣṭhira along with his brothers, setting the stage for further interaction or instruction.
