Dhṛtarāṣṭra Addressed on Sincerity, Hospitality, and Settlement
etaddhi rucirākāraiḥ prāsādair upaśobhitam | śivaṃ ca ramaṇīyaṃ ca sarvartusumahādhanam ||
The verse highlights the allure of external prosperity—beautiful palaces, auspiciousness, and abundant wealth—while the broader Udyoga Parva context reminds that true welfare depends on dharma and right counsel, not merely on grandeur.
Dhṛtarāṣṭra is describing a splendid, prosperous abode (adorned with fine mansions and wealth across all seasons), setting a tone of royal magnificence amid the political and ethical pressures leading toward the Kurukṣetra war.
