Udyoga-parva Adhyāya 71 — Kṣatra-dharma Counsel, Public Legitimacy, and Mobilization
tad idaṁ mayi te dṛṣṭaṁ pratyakṣaṁ madhusūdana | yathā rājyāt paribhraṣṭo vasāmi vasatīr imāḥ ||
Yudhiṣṭhira appeals to direct, witnessed reality (pratyakṣa) as an ethical ground for deliberation: the loss of rightful kingship and the lived suffering of exile are not abstractions but facts that must inform dharmic counsel and action.
In the Udyoga Parva’s pre-war negotiations, Yudhiṣṭhira addresses Kṛṣṇa (Madhusūdana), reminding him that Kṛṣṇa has personally seen the Pāṇḍavas’ dispossession and their harsh life in exile, thereby strengthening the case for just restitution and guidance.
