Educational Q&A

The verse highlights the ethical weight of leadership in wartime: a righteous king’s actions are closely watched, and loyal kin and followers stand ready to serve. It underscores responsibility—commands given in a dharmic framework shape collective conduct, especially when war is imminent.

Dhṛtarāṣṭra, anxious about the approaching conflict, questions Saṃjaya about Yudhiṣṭhira’s concrete preparations for battle and asks which of Yudhiṣṭhira’s close relations—brothers and sons—are attentively awaiting his orders.
