अध्याय ३९: विदुरेण धृतराष्ट्राय नीत्युपदेशः

Timely Counsel, Association, and Kin-Duty

ऑपन-माज बक। डे - हाथी, घोड़े, रथ आदि। चत्वारिशो< ध्याय: धर्मकी महत्ताका प्रतिपादन तथा ब्राह्मण आदि चारों वर्णोके धर्मका संक्षिप्त वर्णन विदुर उवाच योअ<भ्यर्चित: सद्धिरसज्जमान: करोत्यर्थ शक्तिमहापयित्वा । क्षिप्रं यशस्तं समुपैति सनन्‍्त- मलं॑ प्रसन्ना हि सुखाय सन्त:,विदुरजी कहते हैं-राजन्‌! जो सज्जन पुरुषोंसे आदर पाकर आसक्तिरहित हो अपनी शक्तिके अनुसार (न्यायपूर्वक) अर्थ-साधन करता रहता है, उस श्रेष्ठ पुरुषको शीघ्र ही सुयशकी प्राप्ति होती है; क्योंकि संत जिसपर प्रसन्न होते हैं, वह सदा सुखी रहता है

vidura uvāca | yo 'bhyarcitaḥ sādubhir asajjamānaḥ karoty arthaṁ śaktim anāpahāyitvā | kṣipraṁ yaśas taṁ samupaiti sanantam alaṁ prasannā hi sukhāya santaḥ ||

قال فيدورا: أيها الملك، إن الرجل إذا أُكرم من الأخيار وبقي مع ذلك منزَّهًا عن التعلّق، ومضى يطلب المال والمقاصد العملية بالعدل، من غير أن يتجاوز حدود طاقته، أسرعت إليه السمعة الحسنة الدائمة. فإن من رضي عنه أهل الفضيلة عاش في رخاءٍ باقٍ.
