Amba–Rama–Bhishma Dialogue on Vow and Refuge

Educational Q&A

The verse highlights how the epic frames major turning points with auspicious or portentous signs—suggesting that human actions unfold under a larger moral-cosmic order (dharma), where approval, warning, or destiny may be indicated through extraordinary phenomena.

Bhishma describes a sudden manifestation of celestial garlands, the sounding of divine instruments, and clouds gathering everywhere—an atmosphere of supernatural auspiciousness/omen accompanying the ongoing events in the Udyoga Parva.
