Bhīṣma’s Appraisal of Pāṇḍava-Alliance Warriors (Śikhaṇḍin, Dhṛṣṭadyumna, and Allied Kings)

te smarantas tu saṅgrāme cariṣyanti ca rudravat | dyūtakrīḍā-kāle draupadyā mahān kleśo yaḥ pradattaḥ pāṇḍavān prati ca kaṭhorāṇi vacāṃsi śrāvitāni tāni sarvāṇi smṛtvā te raṇabhūmau rudrasamaṃ vicariṣyanti |

Educational Q&A

Unaddressed injustice—especially public humiliation and cruel speech—becomes a powerful moral fuel for conflict; Bhishma highlights how remembrance of adharma can harden resolve and unleash fierce, Rudra-like action in war.

Bhishma explains that, as the war approaches, the warriors (especially the Pandavas and their side) will recall the wrongs done during the dice-game—Draupadi’s suffering and the insults to the Pandavas—and, stirred by that memory, will fight with terrifying intensity on the battlefield.
