Educational Q&A

The verse highlights the kṣatriya ethos of uncompromising readiness to meet aggression with force. Ethically, it frames anger-driven assault as inviting immediate fatal consequence, underscoring responsibility for one’s violent intent and the gravity of initiating attack.

Sañjaya reports a warrior’s fierce declaration: if any kṣatriya charges at him in rage—even under Bhīṣma’s leadership—he will kill that attacker, sending him to Yama’s realm. The statement intensifies the atmosphere of impending conflict in the Udyoga Parva.
