वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights the ethical gravity of war: when kings and commanders of entire armies commit themselves, they carry responsibility not only for personal honor but for the lives and dharma of the many who follow them.
Vaiśampāyana is enumerating prominent warriors and allied kings—Abhimanyu, the sons of Draupadī, Virāṭa, Drupada, and other powerful rulers who lead full military divisions—indicating the scale and readiness of the forces gathering for the impending conflict.
