Udyoga Parva, Adhyāya 148: Vāsudeva’s Report—Mobilization and the Nīti Sequence
Sāma–Bheda–Daṇḍa
duryodhana nibodhedaṁ yat tvāṁ vakṣyāmi putraka | tathā tat kuru bhadraṁ te yady asti pitṛgauravam ||
The verse frames ethical persuasion through filial duty: if Duryodhana truly honors his father, he should heed corrective counsel and act for welfare rather than stubborn self-will.
Vāyudeva directly addresses Duryodhana, urging him to listen carefully and to follow the forthcoming instruction, appealing to his respect for his father as a moral lever.
