Droṇa–Vidura–Gāndhārī Counsel in the Royal Assembly

A ruler should prioritize the genuine welfare of his lineage and act after attentive listening to wise counsel; power and pride must yield to what is truly ‘hita’ (beneficial) for the family and its moral standing.
In the Udyoga Parva’s pre-war deliberations, Vāyudeva addresses Duryodhana directly, urging him to listen carefully to advice offered for the good of his clan—an attempt to steer him away from choices that would harm the Kauravas.
