Shloka 24

भवेयमिति संचिन्त्य ब्राह्म॒णं तं नमस्य च । कौतूहलात्‌ तु तं लब्ध्वा बालिश्यादाचरं तदा । कन्या सती देवमर्कमासादयमहं ततः,“मैं अपने ऊपर आनेवाले सब प्रकारके दोषोंका निवारण करती हुई पिताकी दृष्टिमें अपने सदाचारकी रक्षा करती रहती थी। मैंने सोचा, क्या करूँ, जिससे मुझे पुण्य हो और मैं अपराधिनी न होऊँ। यह सोचकर मैंने मन-ही-मन उन ब्राह्मणदेवताको नमस्कार किया और उस मन्त्रको पाकर कौतूहल तथा अविवेकके कारण मैंने उसका प्रयोग आरम्भ कर दिया। उसका परिणाम यह हुआ कि कन्यावस्थामें ही मुझे भगवान्‌ सूर्यदेवका संयोग प्राप्त हुआ

bhaveyam iti saṃcintya brāhmaṇaṃ taṃ namasya ca | kautūhalāt tu taṃ labdhvā bāliśyād ācaran tadā | kanyā satī devam arkam āsādayam ahaṃ tataḥ ||

قال فايشَمبايانا: وبعد أن فكّرتُ قائلةً: «ليكن الأمر كذلك»، وانحنيتُ لذلك البراهمن، نلتُ المانترا؛ ثم بدافع الفضول وخفّةِ حداثةِ السنّ شرعتُ أستعملها. فكان العاقبةُ أنّني، وأنا بعدُ عذراء، اتّحدتُ بالإله أركا، إله الشمس.
