ब्राह्मणान् प्रथमं द्वेष्टि गुरूंश्व मधुसूदन । भृत्यान् भक्तिमतश्चापि तत् पराभवलक्षणम्,“मधुसूदन! दुर्योधन पहले ब्राह्मणोंसे द्वेष करता है; फिर गुरुजनोंसे तथा अपने प्रति भक्ति रखनेवाले भृत्योंसे भी द्रोह करने लगता है, यह उसकी पराजयका ही लक्षण है

brāhmaṇān prathamaṃ dveṣṭi gurūṃś ca madhusūdana |
bhṛtyān bhaktimataś cāpi tat parābhavalakṣaṇam ||
قال سانجيا: «يا مدهوسودانا، إن دريودانا يبدأ أولًا ببغض البراهمة؛ ثم يمضي إلى ازدراء الشيوخ والمعلمين، بل ويخون الخدم المخلصين الذين يوالونه. إن هذا السلوك لآيةٌ بيّنة على أن الخراب والهزيمة قد دنا.»
