Educational Q&A

The verse teaches proactive duty: rise from lethargy, stay alert, and commit yourself to constructive actions that bring welfare and stability. It frames prosperity not as luck but as the fruit of disciplined, wakeful effort aligned with one’s responsibilities.

A son addresses his counterpart (contextually within Udyoga Parva’s counsel-driven episodes), offering practical exhortation. The line functions as advice—urging readiness and sustained effort at a time when decisive action and responsible conduct are required.
