वैशम्पायन उवाच
Power and prosperity should not be pursued by entrusting authority to unrighteous, violent, or deceitful allies; governance grounded in adharma undermines both moral legitimacy and lasting success.
In the Udyoga Parva’s pre-war counsel and negotiations, the narrator frames a pointed critique: the addressee is warned that relying on figures like Duḥśāsana, Durviṣaha, Karṇa, and Śakuni as pillars of policy and power is a perilous foundation for any hoped-for rise or prosperity.
