Chapter 72 — Royal Duty: protection of subjects, taxation, punishment, and appointments

मा स्म ते ब्राह्मणं दृष्टवा धनस्थ॑ प्रचलेन्मन: । अन्त्यायामप्यवस्थायां किमु स्फीतस्थ भारत,भरतनन्दन! धनसम्पन्न अवस्थाकी तो बात ही क्या है? तुम अत्यन्त निर्धन अवस्थामें पड़ जाओ तो भी ब्राह्मणको धनी देखकर उसका धन लेनेके लिये तुम्हारा मन चञ्चल नहीं होना चाहिये

mā sma te brāhmaṇaṁ dṛṣṭvā dhanasthaḥ pracalen manaḥ | antyāyām apy avasthāyāṁ kimu sphītastha bhārata bharatanandana ||

قال بهيشما: «يا بهاراتا، يا بهجة آل بهاراتا—لا تدع قلبك يضطرب إلى أخذ المال حين ترى براهمنًا ذا يسار. حتى لو وقعتَ في أفقر حالٍ وأشدّها، فلتثبت هذه العفّة؛ فكيف إذا كنتَ أنت في سعةٍ وغنى؟»
