न चैनमशकदू भानुरहं वा स्नेहकारणै: । पुरा प्रत्यनुनेतुं वा नेतुं वाप्यपेकतां त्वया
na cainam aśakad ū bhānur ahaṃ vā snehakāraṇaiḥ | purā pratyanunetuṃ vā netuṃ vāpy ekatāṃ tvayā ||
قال فايشامبايانا: لم يستطع إلهُ الشمس بهاانو ولا أنا، حتى من قبل، أن نستميله بنداءاتٍ تقوم على المودّة، ولا أن نُحدِث بينه وبينكم (وبين جانبكم) وحدةً واتفاقًا.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Affectionate appeals and even respected authority may fail to reconcile a determined person; ethical counsel must recognize the limits of persuasion and the gravity of choices that lead to division.
The speaker reports that neither he nor the Sun-god could previously persuade the person in question or bring about concord with the addressed party, indicating an earlier, unsuccessful attempt at preventing disunity.
