भवत्या गूढमन्त्रत्वात् पीडितो<स्मीत्युवाच ताम्
vaiśampāyana uvāca — bhavatyā gūḍha-mantratvāt pīḍito ’smīty uvāca tām |
قال فايشامبايانا: «لقد ابتُليتُ بالألم لأنكِ كتمتِ هذا الأمر سرًّا خفيًّا»، قال لها. فلمّا سمِع ذلك، اغرورقت عينا دهرماراجا يودهيشثيرا بالدموع؛ واضطربت حواسّه من الحزن، وقال ذلك الملكُ البارّ لأمّه: «يا أمّاه، إنكِ بإخفائكِ هذه الحقيقة السرّية قد أوقعتِني في ألمٍ عظيم».
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The passage highlights the ethical tension between secrecy and truth within family and dharma: withholding a crucial truth—especially from one who bears responsibility—can become a cause of suffering and moral distress, even when the intention behind secrecy may have been protective.
Vaiśampāyana narrates Yudhiṣṭhira’s emotional response after hearing a concealed, confidential matter from his mother. Overcome with grief, he tells her that her keeping the secret has caused him deep pain.
