एष मे निश्चय: साधो कृतं कारणमुनत्तमम् । आमन्त्रयामि भद्र ते कृतार्थोडस्मि भुजजड्रम
eṣa me niścayaḥ sādho kṛtaṃ kāraṇam uttamam | āmantrayāmi bhadra te kṛtārtho ’smi bhujaṅgama mahātman ||
قال البراهمن: «هذا هو عزمي الراسخ، أيها الصالح. لقد تمّ المقصود—بل على أتمّ وجه. والآن أستأذن منك بالانصراف؛ فليكن لك الخير. أيها الحيّة العظيمة، يا عظيم النفس، لقد نلتُ مرادي؛ فأذن لي أن أرحل».
ब्राह्मण उवाच
The verse highlights ethical speech and conduct: once one’s purpose is fulfilled, one should express gratitude, offer auspicious wishes, and seek leave respectfully—showing humility and propriety even toward a non-human being.
A brāhmaṇa addresses a serpent who has helped accomplish his objective. Declaring his resolve satisfied and his task completed, he blesses the serpent and formally asks permission to depart.
