Āścarya-kathana: Brāhmaṇa–Nāga Dialogue on Sūrya (Vivasvat) and the ‘Second Sun’ Phenomenon
जायमानं हि पुरुष यं पश्येन्मधुसूदन: । साच्चिकस्तु स विज्ञेयो भवेन्मोक्षे च निश्चित:
jāyamānaṃ hi puruṣaṃ yaṃ paśyen madhusūdanaḥ | sāttvikaḥ tu sa vijñeyo bhaven mokṣe ca niścitaḥ ||
قال فايشَمبايانا: إنّ الرجل الذي ينظر إليه مدهوسودانا (الرب) بعين النعمة، حتى وهو يولد في دوّامة الميلاد والموت، ينبغي أن يُعرَف بأنه ساتّفيكيّ الطبع؛ ويغدو أهلًا للخلاص على وجه اليقين.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
A person marked by sattva (inner purity and clarity) is recognized by the Lord’s gracious regard; such divine favor signifies firm eligibility for mokṣa. Liberation is presented as tied to inner disposition and grace rather than external identity alone.
Vaiśampāyana, in the didactic setting of Śānti Parva, states a criterion for spiritual status: the one upon whom Madhusūdana casts His compassionate glance—even from birth—is to be known as sāttvika and assured of liberation.
