नारद उवाच
This line is a colophon marking the close of a chapter and locating it within the Mahābhārata’s internal divisions (Śānti Parvan → Mokṣadharma → Nārāyaṇīya). Its function is organizational rather than doctrinal, though it signals that the surrounding material belongs to the liberation-oriented Mokṣadharma teachings and the Nārāyaṇīya devotional-philosophical context.
The verse is not part of the spoken dialogue; it is an editorial closing formula indicating that the chapter has concluded and identifying its placement within the Śānti Parvan’s Mokṣadharma section, specifically within the Nārāyaṇīya portion.
