वैशम्पायन उवाच
This line is a colophon rather than a doctrinal verse: it frames the surrounding teaching as part of Mokṣa-dharma and the Nārāyaṇīya, emphasizing that liberation-oriented ethics and devotion/theology of Nārāyaṇa are the context of the completed chapter.
Vaiśampāyana’s narration reaches a formal chapter close. The text identifies the work (Mahābhārata), the larger book (Śānti Parva), the subsection (Mokṣa-dharma), and the thematic unit (Nārāyaṇīya), and states that the 344th chapter has concluded.
