ध्यायता भगवद्धाक्यं चेष्टितं किमत: परम् । जनमेजय बोले--भगवन्! भगवान् नारायणके कथनपर विचार करते हुए देवर्षि नारद जब श्वेतद्वीपसे लौट आये, तब उसके बाद उन्होंने क्या किया?
dhyāyatā bhagavadvākyaṃ ceṣṭitaṃ kim ataḥ param | janamejaya uvāca—bhagavan! bhagavān nārāyaṇasya kathanam anusmṛtya vicārayataḥ devarṣer nāradasya śvetadvīpāt pratyāgatasyānantaraṃ kiṃ kṛtam?
قال جَنَمِجَيَة: «أيها السيد الجليل، بعدما عاد الحكيم الإلهي نارادا من شْوِيتَدْوِيبَة وهو يتأمّل كلمات الرب نارايانا، ماذا فعل بعد ذلك؟ وأيُّ مسارٍ تالٍ من العمل انبثق من ذلك التأمّل؟»
जनमेजय उवाच
The verse foregrounds dhāraṇā and vicāra—ethical learning begins with sustained reflection on divine instruction, and then asks how that inner contemplation should translate into right action (ceṣṭita).
Janamejaya asks the narrator to continue the account: after Nārada returns from Śvetadvīpa and reflects on Nārāyaṇa’s words, what he did next and what events followed.
