Atithi-prāpti and the Brāhmaṇa’s Deliberation on Triadic Dharma (अतिथिप्राप्तिः धर्मत्रयविचारश्च)
brahmovāca sādhv ahaṁ jñāpito devā yuṣmābhir bhadram astu vaḥ | mamāpy eṣā samutpannā cintā yā bhavatāṁ matā
Responsible governance of the cosmos (and by extension society) begins with attentive listening, shared deliberation, and aligning one’s judgment with the welfare of all; Brahmā affirms the gods’ counsel and blesses them, showing that authority should be guided by collective, dharmic concern.
The gods have approached and informed Brahmā about a matter of concern. Brahmā responds approvingly, offers them an auspicious blessing, and states that the same concern they have expressed has also arisen in his own mind.
