मया हि सुमहत्‌ तप्तं तप: परमदारुणम्‌ | भूतं भव्यं भविष्यं च जानीयामिति सत्तमा:,'साधु पुरुषोंमें श्रेष्ठ शिष्यगण! एक समयकी बात है कि मैंने भूत, भविष्य और वर्तमान तीनों कालोंका ज्ञान प्राप्त करनेके लिये अत्यन्त कठोर और बड़ी भारी तपस्या की

mayā hi sumahat taptaṁ tapaḥ paramadāruṇam | bhūtaṁ bhavyaṁ bhaviṣyaṁ ca jānīyām iti sattamāḥ ||

«يا تلاميذي، يا خيرَ أهلِ الصلاح! لقد مارستُ حقًّا تقشُّفًا عظيمًا، بالغَ القسوةِ وشديدَ المشقّة، لكي أعرف الماضي والحاضر والمستقبل.»
