True excellence is portrayed as devotion-centered life: those who place Nārāyaṇa as their supreme goal gain an inner luminosity (varcas) that symbolizes purity, serenity, and spiritual attainment rather than worldly dominance.
Bhīṣma describes a realm or community where people are devoted to Nārāyaṇa and are characterized by moon-like radiance, setting up an idealized model of spiritually perfected devotees within the Śānti Parva’s instruction on higher dharma.
