एकान्तिधर्म-प्रश्नः (Inquiry into Ekāntin Dharma) / The Origin and Practice of Single-Pointed Nārāyaṇa-Centered Discipline
भीष्म उवाच विस्तीर्णैषा कथा राजन् श्रुता मे पितृसंनिधौ । यैषा तव हि वक्तव्या कथासारो हि सा मता,भीष्मजी कहते हैं--राजन! यह कथा बहुत विस्तृत है। इसे मैंने अपने पिताजीके निकट सुना था। इस समय जो कथा तुम्हारे सामने कहनी है, वह सम्पूर्ण कथाओंकी सारभूत मानी गयी है
bhīṣma uvāca vistīrṇaiṣā kathā rājan śrutā me pitṛsaṃnidhau | yaiṣā tava hi vaktavyā kathāsāro hi sā matā ||
قال بهيشما: «أيها الملك، إن هذه الحكاية بالغة الاتساع؛ لقد سمعتها في حضرة أبي. غير أنّ الخبر الذي ينبغي أن أرويه لك الآن يُعَدّ خلاصةَ جميع الروايات—موجزًا ليبلّغ مغزاه الأخلاقي دون إطالة لا حاجة لها.»
