Janaka–Sulabhā Dialogue on Mokṣa and Non-attachment
अवाप्तमेतद्धि मया सनातना- द्विरण्यगर्भाद् गदतो नराधिप । प्रसाद्य यत्नेन तमुग्रचेतसं सनातन ब्रह्म यथाद्य वै त्वया
avāptam etad dhi mayā sanātanād hiraṇyagarbhād gadataḥ narādhipa | prasādya yatnena tam ugracetasaṃ sanātana brahma yathādya vai tvayā ||
قال فاسيشثا: «أيها الملك، إنني أنا أيضاً تلقيتُ هذا التعليم الأزلي من القديم—هِرَنياغربها—حين كان يشرحه. وبسعيٍ جادّ استرضيتُ ذلك البراهمَا البدئي شديد العزم، فنلتُ هذه المعرفة التي لا يطالها الزمان—كما تلقيتَ أنت اليوم مني معرفة البراهمان الأزلي».

Educational Q&A
Spiritual knowledge of the eternal Brahman is transmitted through an authentic lineage and is gained through both personal effort (yatna) and the teacher’s grace (prasāda). Vasiṣṭha emphasizes continuity: what the king receives now is the same timeless wisdom Vasiṣṭha once received from Hiraṇyagarbha (Brahmā).
Vasiṣṭha addresses a king and explains the provenance of the doctrine he has taught: he himself learned it directly from Hiraṇyagarbha/Brahmā after striving to please him. He draws a parallel between his own earlier discipleship and the king’s present reception of the teaching.
