Śānti-parva Adhyāya 3: Karṇa’s training under Rāma Jāmadagnya and the Bhārgava restriction on the Brahmāstra
so ’ham enāṃ gatiṃ prāpto yathā na kuśalaṃ tathā | tvayā sādho samāgamya vimuktaḥ pāpayonitaḥ ||

Association with the virtuous (satsanga) has transformative moral power: even one trapped in an inauspicious, sinful condition can be purified and released through contact with a truly good person, implying that ethical uplift is possible despite past karma.
Narada speaks in the first person, recalling that he had fallen into a miserable state where no welfare was experienced; he then addresses a holy person and credits their meeting as the cause of his deliverance from a sinful birth/condition.
