Adhyāya 287 — Janaka’s Inquiry on Śreyas, Abhayadāna, and Asaṅga

एतस्मात् कारणाच्छेय: कलिलं प्रतिभाति मे । ब्रवीतु भगवांस्तन्मे उपसन्नोडस्म्यधीहि भो:
etasmāt kāraṇāc chreyaḥ kalilaṁ pratibhāti me | bravītu bhagavāṁs tan me upasanno 'smy adhīhi bhoḥ ||
قال بهيشما: «لهذا السبب يبدو لي جوهرُ ما هو الأفضل (شْرَيَس śreyas) محجوبًا بالشكّ والاضطراب. فلهذا، أيها المبارك، تفضّل فأخبرني بتلك التعاليم. لقد جئتُ إليك ملتمسًا الملجأ—فعلّمني، أيها السيد الجليل، وأفهمني السبيل الذي يفضي إلى الخير الأسمى».
