चारित्रमात्मन: पश्यंश्रन्द्रशुद्धमनामयम् । धर्मात्मा लभते कीर्ति प्रेत्य चेह यथासुखम्
cāritram ātmanaḥ paśyañ chandraśuddham anāmayam | dharmātmā labhate kīrtiṁ pretya ceha yathāsukham ||
يقول بهيشما: من نظر إلى سلوكه هو فرأى فيه طهارة كطهارة القمر—مضيئًا، بلا دنس ولا عيب—فذلك الرجل القائم بالدَّرما ينال الذكر الحسن، ويتمتّع بسعادة لائقة في هذه الدنيا وفي الآخرة بعد الموت.
भीष्म उवाच
Moral self-examination and purity of conduct—likened to the moon’s spotless brightness—lead to enduring benefits: good reputation and genuine happiness, both in this life and beyond.
