तृष्णाक्षय-उपदेशः
Instruction on the Cessation of Craving
श्रीहीन और आलसी पण्डितोंने कर्मोके त्यागसे मोक्ष मिलता है--ऐसा मत चलाया है। यह सुननेमें सत्य-सा आभासित होता है, परंतु है मिथ्या। इस मार्गमें किसीको वेदके सिद्धान्तोंका तनिक भी ज्ञान नहीं है ।।
śrīhīnā ālasī paṇḍitāḥ karmatyāgena mokṣo labhyata iti mataṃ pracāritavantaḥ; tac chravaṇe satyam iva pratibhāti, kintu mithyā. asmin mārge kasyacid api vedasiddhāntānāṃ kiñcid api jñānaṃ nāsti. na vai pāpair hriyate kṛṣyate vā yo brāhmaṇo yajate vedaśāstraiḥ | ūrdhvaṃ yajñaiḥ paśubhiḥ sārtham eti saṃtarpitas tarpayate ca kāmaiḥ ||
يقول كابيلا: «لقد نشر بعضُ العلماء الفقراء الكسالى رأيًا مفاده أن التحرر يُنال بترك العمل. يبدو ذلك معقولًا عند السماع، لكنه باطل؛ ففي ذلك الطريق لا توجد حتى ذرة من فهمٍ لنتائج الفيدا. أمّا البرهمي الذي يقيم اليَجْنَة وفق الفيدا وعلومها التأديبية فلا يستطيع الإثم أن يقهره أو يجرّه إلى أسفل. فإذا قدّم القرابين صعد إلى العوالم العليا مع ثمرات القربان ومع الحيوانات المستعملة في الطقس، وهو—وقد ارتوى من المتع المشروعة—يُشبع غيره أيضًا.»
