कपिलगोसंवादे गृहस्थ-त्यागधर्मयोः प्रमाण्यविचारः

भीष्म उवाच अतीव तपसा युक्तो घोरेण स बभूव ह । तथोपस्पर्शनरत:ः सायं प्रातर्महातपा:

bhīṣma uvāca | atīva tapasā yukto ghoreṇa sa babhūva ha | tathopasparśana-rataḥ sāyaṃ prātar mahā-tapāḥ |

قال بهيشما: لقد غدا حقًّا ناسكًا مهيبًا، إذ كان موفور الحظ من تَقَشُّفٍ بالغ الشدة. وكان ذلك الممارس العظيم مولعًا بالتطهّر الطقسي—يغتسل ويؤدي شعائر المساء والصباح بانتظامٍ منضبط—صورةً للثبات في ضبط النفس والوفاء بواجبات مرحلة ساكن الغابة (فانابراستا).
